My job in the Marine Corps (1963-69) was designated as an MOS numbered 2533: radio-telegraph operator. this means i learned voice and morse code. I have yet to shake the dits and dahs from memory - I cannot! LOL. Knowing Morse saved our bacon when my radio was shot or maybe fragged. I lost the ability to transmit voice, but, the radio transmitter did operate when I depressed (keyed) the push-to-talk. So, I sent our position in morse code for an air strike after which all was again good in the world ... LOL
